I was going to say, powerful story, but Louise beat me to it. Thank you for sharing, it was very vivid. The story of your Grandmother captivated me. Her story, and the parallel of the elephant was both horrifying and noble. My heart aches with the pain they both endured.

wow, this was an incredibly connected and deep experience for you and for me as a reader. I work with many people who are releasing ancient wounds for their family lines and I wonder if that is what you are preparing to do? Perhaps you have already done this by the time I read your story. Thank you for trusting us with these shared memories and wise understanding of the connections through DNA over time.

I envy the relationship you have with your father. Mine was absent, but no less loving. It's just that that love had issues connecting and seeping in to me due to the prolonged physical absence I experienced. I know that I was loved by him, but I have not felt that love. A feeling that seems so present and unmistakble via your photos and conversations in this article. That being said, at the moment, I want to ruminate on this long-form post and may even make it a topic of my personal journal. Again, thank you for sharing your unique, powerful vulnerability and personal reflection. Your stories are inspirational in so many ways.

Really enjoyed this post. 'Twas deep. So interesting how experiences travel through generations to keep us connected. What is the shackle saying? Hmmm.

Loved your tale “How Do We Carry Our Ancestor’s Memories.” You connected and intertwine the tale of your ancestor’s pains, slaves, elephants, the leg shackles with three generations of truama. By falling as you mentioned in the evergreen forest, while the motif of your dad breaking his ankle suggests and translates into physical and the psychological trauma has not gone away.

An amazing piece of writing, Tifanei. So many feelings and thoughts, but at the end the primary one is I am so glad for the relationship you and your dad have, the love that you share seems like it holds the container for ancestral healing for you both -- and beyond that. Thank you for sharing this with us.

I wrote a piece about ancestors as well a couple of weeks ago; I'm doing a follow up for the new moon and will include a link to your post. Palms together.
